BHAKTAPUR DURBAR SQUARE
Bhaktapur is in the Kathmandu, Bhaktapur darbar square is a very beautiful place people feels peace in this place. Bhaktapur is the plaza in front of the royal palace of the old Bhaktapur Kingdom, 1400m above sea level. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Bhaktapur Durbar Square is located in the current town of Bhaktapur, also known as Bhadgaon, which lies 13 km east of Kathmandu. While the complex consists of at least four distinct squares (Durbar Square, Taumadhi Square, Dattatreya Square and Pottery Square), the whole area is informally known as the Bhakapur Durbar Square and is a highly visited site in the Kathmandu Valley. There are 55 windows which are major attraction of this place, batsala Temple, Statue of Bhupatindra malla, Nyatapola temple, bhairava nath temple, Golden gate, Lion’s Gate, mini Pashupatinath Temple.
The Lion Gate:- The Lion Gate was installed on during the reign of King Bhupatindra Malla in 1696 A. D.
Golden Gate:- The Golden Gate was built in 1754 A. D. by King Ranajit Malla.
Four Pilgrimage sites:- Jagnath, Kedarnath, Rameshwor & Badrinath. It is a replication of holy sites revered in India.
55 Windows Palace:- The Durbar was originally built in 1427 A. D by King Yakshya Malla and embellished in 17th century by King Bhupatindra Malla.
Vastala Temple:- The temple was built in 17th century by Jaya Ranjit Malla . The Temple is dedicated to a mother goddess Durga.
Yakcheswor Mahadev:- The temple was built in 1480 A. D. by King Yakshya malla. This is replication of Pashupatinath Temple of Kathmandu.
Taumadhi Square:- The Taumadhi Square is located next to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Taumadhi is even referred to as Taumadhi Tole which is because of the "tole" means "market street area" in Nepal. Taumadhi Tole contains the tallest temple in Kathmandu Valley- the Nyatapola Temple.
Nyatapola:- Nayatapola Newari word means five – tiered temple symbolizing the five basic elements of nature. The Temple is built in pagoda style. The temple was built in 1702 A. D. by King Bhupatindra Malla.
Bhairav Nath Temple:- Originally this temple was built by Jagat Jyoti Malla as a one storeyed and later King Bhupatindra mall added two more storey to it in 1718 A. D.
Teel Mahadev Narayan Temple:- This Lord Vishnu Temple was built in the 12th century.
Dattatreya Square:- At the east end of Tachupal Tole, the eye-catching Dattatreya Temple was originally built in 1427, supposedly using the timber from a single tree. The temple is dedicated to Dattatreya, a curious hybrid deity, blending elements of Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva.
Dattatreya Temple:- The Temple was originally built by King Yakshya Malla in 1427 A.D. The temple is dedicated to Lord Dattatreya – the combine incarnation of the three gods – Bramha (the Founder), Vishnu (the preserver) and Shiva (the destroyer). Vishnu Malla the son of King Yakshya Malla was renovated this tample in 1458 A.D.
Bhimsen Temple:- The Bhimsen Temple was built in 1605 A.D. As per Mahabharat epic Bhimsen is the second oldest brother of five Pandaves.
Pujari Math:- The Priest’s house ‘Pujari Math’ was built by the King Yaksha Malla in 15th century. Now the house is wood carving museum. The world famous Peacock window is situated on the eastern face of this house.
